Diagnosed leaking drain. Customer states when it rains really hard water started coming out from around coupling of drain pipe near floor in basement. Noticed unglued joint on pvc to cast vent. No other current leaks detected at this time. As first step cut out suspected leaking coupling and replace with new section of pipe. Used repair couplings to add new section. Glued in section of vent pipe that was unglued. All work is sealed. Recommend waiting for another rainy day to see if issue returns or if further diagnostics like running camera is needed.
Upon arrival, the customer reported a sewer line leak and requested an estimate to replace the existing galvanized water service line. After evaluating the plumbing system and discussing the available options with the customer, I recommended replacing approximately 60 feet of cast-iron drain piping in the crawl space. I also proposed replacing the existing water service with a new 1-inch PEX line to provide adequate water volume, along with installing a new water service stub-out on the side of the home, as the existing line runs beneath the concrete porch. During the evaluation, I also observed that the existing water heater was approximately 10 years old and that the water supply line feeding the unit had been reduced from 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch. I informed the customer of the water heater's age and the need to address the existing installation to meet applicable code requirements. Alex came out to fix a problem with leaky pipes under kitchen sink from garbage disposal. He determined that the previous pipe had too much tension and was pulling the connection downward, creating unstable connections. He reworked the pvc creating stability and tight fits.
