Upon arrival, the customer requested an estimate for replacement of the existing water heater. After evaluating the current setup, discussed the available replacement options with the customer, including installing a new 40-gallon short gas water heater or upgrading to a tankless water heater system. After reviewing the options, the customer elected to proceed with replacing the existing unit with a new 40-gallon short gas water heater. Provided an estimate that included removal and replacement of the existing water heater, installation of a new aluminum drain pan, mounting the thermal expansion tank with a proper mounting bracket, and replacing the existing soft copper gas line with new TracPipe gas piping. Also explained that the new gas piping would include a dedicated gas shut-off valve and a union connection at the water heater to allow for easier disconnection and removal during future maintenance or replacement. The communication from Chen Plumbing is great. They confirm and keep in touch via phone and text, and when they were delayed for my original visit time, offered me a slight discount for rescheduling for another day. Shane Silva who came to fix our kitchen sink leak, leading to installing a new disposal, was friendly and knowledgeable, and giving us several options at different price points was helpful and the right thing to do. He worked fast and efficiently. Chen emailed me photos of the work done, too. I hope I won't have to call a plumber any time again soon, but if I do, it's Chen Plumbing all the way.
